This is a terrible idea. What Trump isn’t telling us is that when these tariffs kill off European manufacturers, jobless Europeans will flood illegally across our borders. Get ready for Andorran boat people washing up on Martha’s Vineyard in their millions.

They are certainly helping shunt well-paying industrial jobs from Germany to China.

Europe has the same abysmal standards of labor as China does, because they employ Chinese slave labor to create their "guccis" and other things now "Made In Italy." You didn't think illegals were only in America, didja?

Now, naturally, is the time to put tariffs on Europe for the unfair trade association that is the EU (designed, apurpose, to advantage other European Nations over America), in that we've browbeaten the EU into cutting its own throat with sanctions on Russia. So, the economic costs of relocating to Germany have never been higher. Germany is closing plant after plant.

Speaking of hilarious off-brand candidates from yesteryear, remember Steve Forbes and his "Flat Tax" dreams?

“they don’t have export-oriented policies that are arguably anti-competitive…”

The VAT on domestic sales that exempts exports is a huge export-oriented subsidy.
