Ah, this reminded me of a German TV show, Babylon Berlin. Although it’s set a few years ahead of our present-day 100 years ago today, the Black Reichswehr is a big part of the plot in the first couple seasons, up to the point where they’re even trying to raise a secret Air Force. I was disappointed to learn that the coup attempt they were plotting — OPERATION PRANGERTAG — was fictional, but I think the point still stands that everything sounds more hardcore if it’s in German.
It’s a good show, with everything you’d expect from a piece set in the period: street battles between communists and fascists! Buffoonish Nazis nobody could possibly take seriously! Flappers who are also prostitutes! Death by crushing! It used to be on Netflix, not sure where it is now.
Jeff, I'm sorry for your loss. I'm an Iowa fan so I too know the heartbreak of a crushing loss- Like Oregon beating Iowa with a walk off field goal with 3 sec left- but damnit I respect the ducks. Also, losing to Indiana by 5 after a last minute 75 yard touchdown pass. As for the championship I want Indiana to whip Miami's ass into the turf with a sugar cane stalk. Recording the episode before this game was absolutely the right call.
Not to get all Godwin's Law, but it's worth noting that the most notorious published volume of bad ideas ever is literally titled My Struggle. One would hope this would settle the question of whether suffering automatically ennobles the sufferer, or imbues their ideas with wisdom.
I hope there's a crime drama set in the The Ruhr called The Ruhr Juror

I was literally just about to post the same thing. It’s such a good show.
So who is Andy Wood in this analogy? Obviously, Eddie is Hitler. Which Dave Abbruzzese would no doubt agree with.🤣🤣
My takeaway is that you think John Oliver is literally Hitler.

There were two ideas in that book! TWO!
1) We should have mandatory gym class.
2) Put some flowers out in front of government buildings, they look kinda grim otherwise.
... and lots and lots of screeds about Jews.
Hitler was a very small bureaucrat, and he had very small, bureaucratic ideas.
