As demonstrations at UCLA, Columbia, and elsewhere have devolved into violence, many people have witnessed these encounters through tightly-edited videos shared on social media. In contrast to previous eras of news, in which newscasters provided context and professional news departments were trusted with editing, short-form videos shared by private accounts have become the norm. Below, I have compiled some of the most shocking videos from the protests, and because we’re all busy, I only included videos no longer than three seconds.

This first video comes from a Twitter account called “Pussy_Gatling_Gun” and is labeled “Protester ASSAULTED by pro-Israel MOB!!!!”

WHOA, SHIT! That Palestine guy was just standing there holding road cones — one of the lesser-known martial arts implements — and that dark-hoodie-guy (who I guess is pro-Israel) bum-rushed him! That’s fucking terrible; these protesters are just exercising their free speech rights, and they’re being assaulted by right-wing thugs. I think there’s a stark lesson here about how America’s violent culture oppresses anyone who dares question our aggressive foreign policy.

Here’s another video, this time from an account whose name is in squiggly writing next to like 20 Israeli flags, so I think it’s safe to assume that that account is pro-Israel.

Goddamn, I take it all back! That Palestine guy — who was good enough to wear a uniform so I know which side he’s on — wailed on White Sweatshirt Dude like he’s some kind of Jewish piñata (if he is, in fact, Jewish)! Well, now I think that the protesters are agents of chaos and that people only took matters into their own hands because UCLA didn’t do what it should have done in the first place. These videos are really shaping my opinion!

Let’s keep going — this one is from “IntifadaButtSlave”:
